Best in Snow by April Pulley Sayre

Reminiscent of the title Stranger in the Woods by Carl R. Sams, this is a photography picture book about winter. Delightful photographs of animals in nature accompany text that describes the coming of a snowstorm, the melting of the snow, turning it into slush, and then another snowstorm. The book also includes pages at the end that explain in greater depth characteristics of snow and a bibliography. Photos include a squirrel, songbirds such as red-winged blackbirds, cardinals, and blue jays, and a deer, as well as artistic shots of snow crystals, frost on a window, and frozen tree branches. An entertaining and educational read for children with magnificent photos that will capture their attention and showcase the beauty of the natural world.
