Good Night, Good Dog by Mary Lyn Ray and illustrated Rebecca Malone

This is a sweet picture book about a puppy who is not yet ready for bed, though his human family has turned in for the night. The dog reminiscences about his day: playing outside in the grass, playing with his toys, eating his food. These thoughts lead him into pleasant dreams. When he awakens, his little girl is saying to him, “Good morning, good dog.” The book is illustrated with soft, muted colors that are comforting. We get the sense that the dog is well-loved and cared for, sleeping securely with a sense of well-being. A perfect bedtime book.
