Grandfather’s Wrinkles by Kathryn England and illustrated by Richard McFarland

This is a touching picture book about the relationship between a grandfather and his young granddaughter. The grandfather, his granddaughter, and his dog are sitting outside in the grandfather’s yard when the young girl asks her grandfather why his skin doesn’t fit his face, but is all crinkly. The grandfather explains that those crinkles are wrinkles and that each wrinkle on his face was caused by a joyous event in his life that made him smile. He then tells her memories of some of the events that caused his wrinkles, including his wedding day, the birth of his daughter, and culminating in the birth of the granddaughter. This is a sweet inter-generational story with lovely, colorful artwork to accompany the text that can lead to sharing memories of your family’s special events.
