Olive, the Other Reindeer by J. Otto Seibold and Vivian Walsh

An adorable picture book about a dog named Olive who hears the song “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and misinterprets the lyrics “all of the other reindeer” as “Olive the reindeer.” Olive thought she was a dog, but figures she better report to the North Pole with the other reindeer. Once she arrives, Santa and the reindeer allow Olive to travel with them by tying her to the reins that connect all the reindeer. But the reindeer are so fascinated by her that they aren’t paying attention and they crash into a tree. Olive then shows that though she is a dog and not a reindeer, she can still be helpful to Santa – she chews the branches of the tree to get the sleigh unstuck and then fetches all the toys that fall out when it is discovered that there is a hole in the sleigh. She then guides the sleigh home when a fog comes up – using her nose to smell the cookies baked by Mrs. Claus! A delightful Christmas book that kids will enjoy.
