Carrot Soup by John Segal
A charming picture book in which a rabbit works hard all spring and summer planting, watering, and weeding carrot seeds, then when he goes to harvest his carrots, they are all gone. Someone else has dug them up. Rabbit questions all his friends about his carrots, but Mole, Dog, Cat, Duck, and Pig tell him they don’t know where his carrots are. At the end, Rabbit goes home dejected, just to discover that his friends have harvested his carrots for him and cooked his favorite meal, carrot soup, as a surprise for him! The illustrations are adorable – on each page where Rabbit is questioning his friends, the illustrations show another friend in the background hurrying away with the carrots. The book also includes a recipe for carrot soup. A fun read for toddlers and preschoolers.
