From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg
One of my favorite chapter books when I was a child, this book tells the adventures of 12-year-old Claudia and her little brother Jamie, who run away from home to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, where they secretly live. While at the museum, Claudia becomes enthralled with the mystery of a marble angel sculpture that may have been done by Michelangelo. She tracks down Mrs. Frankweiler, the original owner of the statue, to try and solve the mystery before she and Jamie have to go home. A fun book with a satisfying ending that has stood the test of time. What kid wouldn’t be thrilled by the idea of living and sleeping in a museum? Winner of the Newbery Medal.
