Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos by R.L. LaFevers
The first in a series for intermediate and middle school children. Theodosia spends most of her time in her parents’ museum in London in the late 1880s. She has the special ability to detect evil curses on artifacts her parents have brought back from Egypt for their Egyptian exhibit, but no one else can sense this, so people think she is a peculiar child. When Theodosia finds out about a secret organization that wants to steal these cursed artifacts for their own evil purposes, it is up to her to stop them. Theodosia is whip-smart and the book is filled with exciting adventures. Theodosia is a fine role model for girls. I also recommend the other titles in this series.
